Enjoy your stay in this renovated 1880s former police station, beside the reserve at Pahi Beach and wharf. Hector and Jenny are renowned for their relaxed, friendly hospitality and for their delicious meals of fine local produce, accompanied by fine New Zealand wines. Enjoy staying at peaceful Pahi on the Kaipara Harbour. Stroll along the tideline or stand on the wharf and watch the fish jump. We are just two hours from Auckland and 13km from the famous Matakohe Museum and enroute to the spectacular Waipoua Kauri Forest, just off the Twin Coast Discovery Highway.

Accommodation

Stay in the house in our queen or twin room with shared facilities and guest sitting room or choose the self-contained cottage in the garden.

Both options include a two-course home-style breakfast - served in the garden in sunny weather. Dinner is available by prior arrangement.

Pahi is a fishing village on the edge of the Kaipara Harbour – fish off the wharf, walk the edge of the harbour, take a drive to nearby Paparoa or visit Matakohe and the famous Kauri Museum.

We are close to the Kauri Museum, where you can uncover the story of the mighty Kauri tree that was the backbone of the early settler economy in this area. Keep driving and you will find yourself in the midst of the great trees themselves as the highway winds through the world-renowned Waipoua Forest.

Your Hosts

Jenny and Hector come from a farming background. Hector is from the Isle Canna in the inner Hebrides. Jenny met him when she worked for the Laird there, and they were married and lived on those islands before returning to New Zealand. They are both keen fishers and get out on the Kaipara whenever they can.
